In line with promoting academic excellence and scientific research, the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department at the International University of Technology Twintech (IUTT) discussed the graduation project of student Ahmed Abdulhabeeb Al-Saruri, titled:

“Utilization of Digital Twins Technology for Production Improvement in Tasour Field, Block-32, Say’un Masila Basin, Yemen”

Online Defense via Google Meet

The project defense was conducted remotely via Google Meet due to the student’s emergency travel to the United States of America prior to the defense date.

Project Summary and Objectives

The project aims to utilize Digital Twin technology integrated with reservoir simulation and Artificial Intelligence to improve production at the Tasour field. It integrates geological, production data, and simulation models within a smart engineering platform that supports:

  • Reservoir performance monitoring.
  • Production forecasting.
  • Operational scenarios evaluation.
  • Decision-making support.

Key Research Findings

The study yielded outstanding results, notably selecting a development scenario that raised expected cumulative production to 45.2 million barrels, reflecting an increase of 1.2 million barrels over the baseline case.

Additionally, a digital platform was developed achieving over 88% accuracy in production forecasting, showing high alignment between AI models and physical reservoir models.

This project serves as an applied model combining reservoir simulation, digital twin, and AI, reflecting modern digital transformation trends in the oil and gas industry.

Supervision and Discussion Committee

The study was conducted under academic supervision and evaluated by:

  • Supervisor: Eng. Abdullah Abdulnasser Al-Mughallas.
  • Discussion Committee: Mr. Mohammed Al-Moallam, Eng. Amr Khalid.

We wish student Ahmed Abdulhabeeb Al-Saruri continued excellence and success in his scientific and professional career.
