Twintech University History
International University of Technology Twintech was established in Yemen in 2009 through a pioneering Yemen–Malaysia initiative led by the Ministers of Higher Education of both countries.
International University of Technology Twintech (IUTT) was founded in Yemen in 2009 through a pioneering partnership supported by the Ministers of Higher Education in Yemen and Malaysia. The university was established to deliver high academic standards and to build a modern, technology-focused institution aligned with the demands of today’s world—and the future. From its earliest days, Twintech set out to become a distinctive university in Yemen, offering specialized programs that connect students with the skills, knowledge, and innovation needed in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Although the university’s beginnings were modest and accompanied by challenges common to new institutions, Twintech’s contemporary research-driven vision helped shape its growth and identity. By emphasizing applied learning, modern scientific thinking, and the development of unique technology pathways, the university positioned itself as a forward-looking academic environment where education supports both national development and individual career success. This approach has enabled Twintech to contribute to advancing science and technology education in Yemen while maintaining an international perspective.
A defining milestone in the university’s history is its role as the first Malaysian academic system in Yemen to offer instruction in English. Twintech was designed to benefit from Malaysia’s educational progress and experience, transferring that model to Yemen through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and a focus on internationally relevant fields. This cross-border academic philosophy strengthened the university’s commitment to producing graduates who can operate confidently in regional and global markets.
Twintech’s early academic offerings reflected this mission, focusing on modern and specialized technology-oriented programs such as International Business Management, Multimedia, and Business Information Technology. As the university expanded, it introduced additional disciplines to meet emerging needs in industry and society, including Oil and Gas Management, Oil and Gas Engineering, Architecture Engineering, and Interior Design. Through these programs, International University of Technology Twintech continues to build a legacy of innovation, English-medium higher education, and future-ready technology specializations in Yemen.
