Aligning academic outcomes with real-world practice, the Civil Engineering Department at the International University of Technology Twintech (IUTT) organized a comprehensive field visit for students as part of the practical “Building Materials” course.
Supervised by faculty members Dr. Ahmed Yafa’ah, Dr. Moataz Al-Samawi, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Moallam, the visit covered three key sites in construction and geology.
Key Destinations Covered:
1. Modern Towers Concrete Company:
Welcomed by General Manager Mr. Abdullah Othman and Eng. Sadiq Al-Jaradi, students were briefed on:
- Concrete Mix Design procedures per standard specifications.
- Ready-mix concrete mixing and handling technologies.
- Quality Control (QC) laboratory testing and material resistance evaluation.
2. Al-Nashwan Cement Industries Factory:
Hosted by Mr. Ghamdan, who provided an in-depth tour covering:
- Production lines and manufacturing stages of concrete blocks.
- Types, sizes, and technical specifications of blocks.
- Engineering applications based on structural loads.
3. Geological Survey & Mineral Resources Board:
Guided by Eng. Fahd Al-Buraq, who delivered a geological lecture covering:
- Analysis of Geological Strata and structural formations.
- Physical properties of different rock types.
- Suitability of rocks as foundations for engineering structures.
