To bridge theoretical knowledge with practical field application, the Department of Civil Engineering at the International University of Technology Twintech (IUTT) organized a scientific field trip to Thula and Hamdan for first-year students, under the supervision of Eng. Mohamed Osama Al-Maqtari and Eng. Mohamed Al-Moallim.
The field trip provided students with hands-on experience in Engineering Geology, examining rock formations and geological dynamics relevant to structural design and civil infrastructure.
Key Field Highlights & Outcomes:
- 🌋 Volcanic Formations in Hamdan: Analyzing volcanic rock features, geological structures, and terrain mechanics.
- 🏔️ Stratigraphy & Slopes in Thula: Studying rock layers, cliff stability, tectonic forces, and erosion factors shaping land contours.
- 🏗️ Engineering Applications: Evaluating site selection criteria, foundation stability, and slope mechanics for construction projects.
This initiative reflects IUTT’s continuous drive toward outcome-based engineering education and practical student readiness.
