During the workshop held under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hassan Al-Sa’adi, titled “Enhancing Multimedia through Artificial Intelligence for Academic Development and Contemporary Labor Market Challenges,” a scientific paper was presented within the second pillar: “Multimedia and Academic Development.” The paper, authored and presented by Prof. Fadhl Mutahar Ba-Alawi, Dean of the Quality Assurance and Development Center, meticulously detailed the first and fifth sub-pillars as follows:
Sub-pillar (1): Multimedia and Digital Transformation of Curricula
This section focused on three fundamental elements:
Integration of Micro-Learning Units: Emphasizing their significance for Yemeni universities in increasing curricular flexibility, facilitating updates, and supporting lifelong learning.
Interactive Digital Simulation Design: Serving as a vital tool for providing virtual laboratories, reducing high costs while supporting students’ practical training.
Development of Multimedia-Rich Open Educational Resources (OER): Contributing to the dissemination of knowledge, enhancing academic transparency, and ensuring educational equity and quality assurance.
Sub-pillar (5): Comprehensive Academic Assessment via Multimedia Tools
This section addressed three primary assessment strategies:
Interactive Scenario-Based Testing: Moving beyond direct questioning by placing students within complex professional scenarios presented via video.
Video-Enhanced Self-Assessment: Strengthening students’ presentation and self-evaluation competencies.
Peer Multimedia Review: Developing collaborative skills and critical thinking capabilities among students.
Prof. Ba-Alawi concluded by recommending that the Ministry coordinate with IUTT, the Academic Accreditation Council, and the Information Technology Center to establish a national framework for the digital transformation of university courses and curricula.
